Ramblings of an evening, cycling..

..
...

A while back, on the way back to my house, I saw something interesting. A man, possibly a drunkard, was dragged by what looked like his wife. They were quarreling in the process. Quarreling as in, punching each other. This was all I could make out from the few rapidly decreasing feet across.(I was cycling).

Now, from my standpoint, it looked like the man had ruined her life(his life was quite obvious), and an overwhelming sense of pity overtook me. Try as I might, I couldn't sympathise with the man. By the way, if you "are" relating this to a movie, let me be easy on your imagination - their ages would atleast be above 40.(The man's hair was grey). Coming back...yeah, they were fighting. The woman had hit him first, but only a push, which came with a retaliation. And voila! you had the typical drunkard withwife quarrel so often portrayed on the screen with more realistic appeal.

That is where the reason for writing this note is based. It was too realistic. The sheer improbability of such an event occurring before me, kind of shook me. It was not TV anymore. It was not entertaining anymore without a hero!

There was no Hero around. I had a choice; Be a Hero, or Be the audience. I've wanted to be a hero all my life and now was the chance. I could have taken the chance. And I tried. But something held me from applying the brakes. I watched in utter horror as I felt so motionless, the feet becoming inches.

Was it Fear or the absolute impossibility(unexpectedness), that made me hesitant to react, I still ponder. Maybe we all live lives that are so parallel to the actual crux of the population that we don't expect such "so-called movie scenes" (that mostly end up in spoofs) to actually happen. We are all the same and pretend capable of predicting, yet we don't even have the slightest clue as to what actually happens in the lives of so many people out there. Centimetres.

Or maybe I was plain afraid. Afraid of what? The consequences?

I'm the audience. Take a right.
